“BIRDS” my new book printed on Japanese rice paper by Editions Bessard and designed by Thibault Geffroy has just been released!
The 36-page soft cover book, published by Editions Bessard for Tantopress, showcases 24 never-before-printed images shot between 2004 and 2024 in both Italy and England. 
The project began in December 2023 when I came across some new material while printing in my darkroom. 
Birds and flying animals in general have always been a massive inspiration for me and having been influenced by Eadweard Muybridge and Etienne-Jules Marey and his cronophotography, when I am out photographing, I have always in mind images of mid-air flying objects. 
“BIRDS” comes in a regular edition of 150 copies individually hand-signed and numbered and a special edition of 75 copies with a 20x15cm (8x6”) print of choice between print A,B or C each signed and numbered verso.

- What is Risography? 
Risography is a sustainable printing method that consumes little energy.
All the inks are soy-based and the stencils are made from plant fibres (non-toxic), giving a very tactile finish to the uncoated paper. 
The inks sits on the surface of the paper and that is why you will find ink marks and smudges throughout the book.
